SUMMARY:Claremont Farmers and Artisans Market
DESCRIPTION:Sundays / 8am-1pm / 100-200 blocks of Harvard Ave / Claremont Village\nThe Claremont Farmers & Artisans Market is located on Harvard Ave. in the Claremont Village. (Just across the street from City Hall.) Parking is available throughout the Village.\nWe are a Certified Farmers Market —\nCalifornia Certified Farmers’ Markets are the “real thing\,” which means that they are places where the farmers sell their crops directly to the public. Before a farmer can sell at a certified market\, the government checks to make sure that the farmer grows the produce they are selling and that they abide by state agricultural guidelines.\nElimination of packing\, shipping and wholesale costs means both the farmer and consumer save money (and help the environment!) Come enjoy the safe\, nutritious\, vine and tree-ripened fruit and vegetables that are California-grown and certified by the State of California.\nContact: The Claremont Forum\nEmail: claremontforum@gmail.com\nPhone: 909.626.3066\nMore Info: http://www.claremontforum.org/claremont-farmers-market-2/

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Samella! Black as Lacquer and Iron
DESCRIPTION:Samella! Black as Lacquer and Iron\nAugust 15–November 15\, 2026\nClaremont Lewis Museum of Art\n200 W. First St.\, Claremont\nExhibition Illuminates the Legacy of Scripps Art History Professor Samella Lewis \nThe Claremont Lewis Museum of Art exhibition Samella! Black as Lacquer and Iron illuminates the extraordinary life and profound influence of Dr. Samella Lewis as an art historian\, educator\, philanthropist\, and artist. Curated by her Scripps student Francine Farr\, the exhibition includes works by Claude Lewis\, Harmon Outlaw\, Alison Saar\, Howard Smith and others\, as well as drawings and prints by Samella Lewis. \nA seminal figure in 20th-century American art\, Samella Sanders Lewis (1923-2022) was a trailblazing art history professor at Scripps College and considered the first American woman polymath of African descent to receive a PhD in the history of art. Her life and global legacy celebrate and perpetuate the visual arts not only of African Americans and Africans but also of Asians\, Asian Americans\, Austronesians\, and other indigenous peoples within and neighboring the Pacific Rim and Western Hemisphere. \nThe exhibition\, sponsored in part by Gould Asset Management LLC\, will open with a reception on Saturday\, August 15 from 5-8 p.m.\, and remain on view through November 15\, 2026. \nThe Museum is open Thursday through Sunday in the historic Claremont Depot at 200 W. First Street next to the Metrolink Station. For hours and more information visit clmoa.org.\n.\nContact: Claremont Lewis Museum of Art\nMore Info: https://clmoa.org/exhibit/samella/
