From the Claremont Folk Festival and the Butterfly Pavilion in the Spring to Friday Nights Live and the Claremont Village Craft Beer Walk in the Summer, our calendar is chock full of rousing events and annual festivals.

There’s something fun to do for everyone. Claremont Restaurant Week in July and the weekly Claremont Artisans and Farmers Market, the largest of its kind in the region, are a foodie’s dream. For arts and crafts lovers, there’s the monthly First Saturday Art Walk and the Village Venture Arts & Crafts Faire in October.

Families flock to events such as Things That Go Bump in the Night at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in October and Inland Pacific Ballet’s The Nutcracker in December. And nature enthusiasts can celebrate and discover the beauty of various native plants at the Annual Wild Flower Show and Festival in April and the California Native Sage Festival in March, both held at Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden.

Ninth Annual Claremont Film Festival

This will be our Ninth Annual Event!  It screens at the Claremont Laemmle 5 and will go from Thursday May 18th through Sunday May 21st. The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Claremont is our official hotel.

We are a curated show. We find good films. We do not take submissions. So the audience is exposed to the finest filmmaking from around the world. In fact, our theme this year is WE. THE WORLD.

The event kicks off with the May 18th screening of “Meru,” the documentary about climbing the most difficult peak in the world. Friday night the 19th we welcome film maker Kerry Candaele showing “Love & Justice: In the Footsteps of Beethoven’s Rebel Opera.” Saturday afternoon will feature documentaries. Saturday evening we will have our famous show of shorts. These are remarkable short films that we identify throughout the year and invite to screen.

Sunday will include “Older Than Ireland,” the lives of 40 people in Ireland over 100. We will end with “Warsaw Uprising,” created from restored footage of the destruction of Warsaw.

Receptions follow the Friday and Saturday night showings.
